A .CUE file contains metadata that describes the layout of tracks on a CD, DVD or super-audio CD’s. CUE files can also contain information on track length, performer, titles and songwriter.
CUE files are plain text files that contain commands with parameters. The original syntax of CUE files was developed by Jeff Arnold of GoldenHawk Technology and is defined in the CDRWIN guide. Each CUE file always contains the start point of each track in the SMPTE timecode format. CD-R burning software makes use of CUE file(s) when making a copy of the original CD.
